Finding Well-Being In the Drum Circle

Sara Blumenfeld describes herself as ” … embracing my own rhythm all my life.” It’s no wonder then that she facilitates therapeutic drum circles for yoga studios, churches, businesses, and more. Drumming is now being embraced and supported by both the scientific and medical communities, with research backing what indigenous populations and musicians have known for years. Drumming reduces stress, promotes healing, relieves pain, benefits immunity, builds community, and releases emotional trauma.

On a personal level, the deep relaxation induced by drumming yields powerful psychological and physical results. On a community level, the bonding and support fostered in drum circles reconnects and heals our broken and isolated society.

Sara’s evidence-based method for group drumming can be used to improve unique objectives. These may be tailor-suited to your needs or chosen as one of the many “themes” she often builds her circles around. Did you ever consider drumming to understand your body better? How about to make more money? Or maybe to improve your relationships?

In her first drum circle for our store, Sara will be focusing on drumming to build thriving relationships through three important pillars: self-love, communication, and appreciation. With Sara’s careful instruction, each student will work on learning basic synchronized drumming patterns, using the drum to express feelings and communicate ideas, and following Sara’s guided imagery.

These circles are fun and focused, and more importantly, they are powerful. No previous drumming or music experience is required, and drums will be provided. But if you own a drum and would like to bring it, feel free. Sara’s drum circle will be here at the store in our classroom on Saturday June 10th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. You can register online by clicking here.
