The moon will be new Thursday, May 25th at 2:44 p.m. in our central time zone.
New moons are about new beginnings, and Thursday’s new moon in the playful and curious sign of Gemini has us thinking about change and breaking out of old ruts and routines. Feeling bored, restless, and distracted are ways the Gemini new moon wakes us up and gets our attention. Many of us are craving a change that makes us feel energized, alive, and excited about life. And while most of us can’t make huge, sweeping changes, there are small steps we can take to get the ball rolling. Gemini has curious energy about it, so this would be a perfect time to learn something new, read a book about a subject you’re interested in, or think about taking a class. Gemini is associated with the adolescent stage in life, so lighten up and stop taking yourself so seriously. Do something fun and even silly, anything that shakes up your current routine. And don’t ask for a lot of feedback or advice, just do it! Gemini rules writing and the mind, so think about starting a journal or taking a meditation class.
During this new moon, we also have Venus making a square to Pluto. Venus rules love and relationships, and Pluto is the planet of transformation and great change. Just like the new moon welcomes change, Venus square Pluto instigates change in our relationships. Although we may try to keep things the same, allowing change to happen in a significant relationship can be the very thing that saves it. Also, Jupiter is retrograde in the sign of Libra until June 9th. Retrograde motion of any planet always has us re-thinking, re-doing, and re-evaluating. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and Libra is the sign associated with relationships, so until June 9th we have to be very honest with ourselves about what is and isn’t working in our romantic relationships. With a new moon in Gemini this week and the Sun in Gemini until June 19th, communication is a keyword for the sign of Gemini and will be of utmost importance in our relationships.
